$ 50 CAD
Offset your carbon footprint by purchasing carbon credits, with 100% of the total amount donated to the Sustainable Community's GHG reduction project.
The Sustainable Community brings together more than 850 greenhouse gas reduction micro-projects carried out by several small and medium-sized businesses from various sectors, non-profit organizations and municipalities. It rewards the voluntary efforts of these local organizations and encourages them to go further in their carbon footprint reduction goals. All carbon credits generated by the Sustainable Community micro-projects are validated under VERRA’s Verified Carbon Standard (VCS) program.
Project Proponent: WILL Solutions
Impact so far: 6.4 million tons of greenhouse gases reduced since 2010.
Choosing to offset with Sustainable Community is:
Consommation annuelle de
bœuf pour 2 personnes
Utilisation d’une voiture
sur 4 500 km (équivalent à un Montréal-Vancouver)
Presque une vie de
téléphone intelligent
A carbon-credit allows you to cancel the production of 1 tonne of greenhouse gases.
Each carbon-credit sold contributes to the success of projects by SMEs, NPOs, farms, municipalities and schools in Canada.
This means that your action enables local businesses and organizations to further invest in solar panels, geothermal systems, waste recovery and much more.
Annual beef consumption
for 2 people
In Canada, the average annual beef consumption in 2019 was 18.12 kg per person. According to Canada's Food Guide, one serving of meat is equivalent to 75 g, which represents about 5 servings of meat per week per Canadian. According to FAO emission factors, 1 kg of beef is equivalent to 27 kg CO2e. In order to convert kg to tonnes (t), we use the factor 0.001. So, for a household of two, the emissions amount to 1 t CO2eper year» 1 t CO2eper year.
An over 4500 km car journey
The HEC Montreal Chair in Energy Sector Management estimates the average gasoline consumption of the individual car fleet at 9.4 L/100 km, which is similar to a sedan, a mid-size car or as mall SUV. Knowing that the CO2e content of gasoline is 2361.2 g CO2e/L, we obtain an average emission factor of 222 g CO2e per kilometer driven. Therefore, 1 t CO2e is equivalent to 4,504.5 km.
Almost a smartphone lifetime
The entire life cycle of a smartphone is estimated at 60 to 70 kg CO2e. Apple also estimates the carbon footprint of the Iphone 12 at 70 kg CO2e. The average lifetime of a smartphone is about 3 years, so we estimate that an individual will use an average of 20 smartphones during his lifetime. 20 smartphones that emit 70 kg CO2e each are equivalent to 1,400 kg CO2e. To convert kg to tons (t), we use the factor 0.001. The carbon footprint of a lifetime of smartphones for one person is 1.4 t CO2e. 1 t CO2e is therefore equivalent to 15 smartphones.
Sustainable pricing
The price is based on the Social Cost of Carbon (SCC) established by the USEPA and confirmed by the Canadian GHG emission floor price set for the period 2020-2030.
80% to stakeholders
80% of every dollar collected is returned to the members of the Sustainable Community who have carried out greenhouse gas emission reduction projects. It allows them to then reinvest in future GHG reduction projects, in a virtuous circle logic.
VERRA Certification
All greenhouse gas reductions are verified according to the Sustainable Community project validated under the VCS program from VERRA. Under the VCS program, micro-projects receive unique carbon credits known as Verified Carbon Units (VCUs). Each VCU represents a reduction of one tonne of carbon dioxide equivalent (tCO2e). VCUs follow a rigorous verification and validation protocol and must meet criteria that ensure their quality. A single VCU is retired when the end user purchases it, ending its life cycle. It cannot be resold or reused afterwards.

Individuals, but also renowned and committed companies trust us to achieve their carbon neutrality
WILL Solutions regroups micro-projects of GHG reductions under a Sustainable Community (SC). The micro-projects are carried out by SMEs, farms, municipalities, schools and NPOs from all regions of Quebec who, aware of the climate crisis, have decided to take action and reduce their GHG emissions through energy conversion, energy efficiency and diversion of waste from landfill.

Diversion from landfill of residual waste
Residual materials are sent, sorted, recovered and composted at the MRC's Ecocentre, where urban biomass is recovered, organic materials are composted, and paper and cardboard are sorted and recovered to be sent for recycling.
This ensures better management of residual materials and, by diverting them from landfill, allows for a significant reduction in GHG emissions on the MRC's territory.
Energy Conversion
The municipality of Causapscal, located in the Lower St. Lawrence region, has implemented a biomass heating network project linking 7 buildings.
The main objective of this project was to replace fuel oil as a heating fuel to reduce GHG emissions. This project also aimed to develop the local economy and stimulate job creation.
Energy Conversion
The Kamouraska-Rivière-du-Loup School Board reduced the GHG emissions of 14 school buildings by converting oil heating systems to geothermal systems.
Energy Conversion
Les Serres Desjardins is located in La Baie in the Saguenay region of Quebec.
The company has replaced fuel oil as heating fuel for its greenhouses with an electric system in order to reduce GHG emissions related to the use of fossil fuels.
